I am an ex-lion tamer, didn't you know? [10 Feb 2007|03:05pm]
[ music | "sultans of swing"-dire straits ]

Working in floral today was awesome! I spent the whole time blowing up valentine's balloons! Some of the balloons sing when you tap them and other were HUGE. And I bought some cool stuff too. Erika found balloon weights that the floral department has had for years so I bought three. They are big plastic hearts. A blue one, a red one and a pink one. Giant bling! I want to make one into a pet tag or something.

I put some patches on Quinn's jeans last night. By the time they left I was exhausted. I also spent time in the studio yesterday. Marguerite came too and she brought bread and Gruyere cheese. Mmmm. I am almost done printing the telephone pole thing.

I have some shtuff to do now.

I found the copy of Pinkerton that Marisa burned for me awhile ago and man is it good! I hadn't listened to it in ages! Especially "Getchoo". Man it's good.

Here is my list of top fivers:it's more than five. much more. I usually listen to these during drawing class.

my nose hurts. :( [03 Feb 2007|03:06pm]
If anyone gets SPIN magazine there is an article about my chemical romance(ewww), and while they suck the guy in that band says that Stiffs, Inc is the template for their work, which is cool. Cause Stiffs, Inc is awesome. Whitey told me about it. I was talking to him last night and he said he and his bandmates were in it. Very nice. There was an article on them in there back in the 90's too. So yes. Little snippet and photo of Stiffs, Inc.

My nose hurts from excessive tissue use. I'm coughing alot. I hate work. Moo.

I finished reading TheLast Battle. I don't know how many books I've done. I have to check my list.

Has everyone done their taxes?

I finished reading A Moveable Fest by Hemingway. It was really, really good.

I'm reading Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer right now. It's really good too.

I made paper today and did some printing. It was frustrating. Color seperation is frustrating.

I have a cold. My throat hurts. My nose runs. I don't want to work tomorrow and it is snowing.

If anyone has old tshirts even if they have holes please consider donating them to me instead of tossing them or throwing them into that bottom drawer never to be seen again.

I'm hungry.

Good day so far.

In Visual Fundamentals we filled cartons with plaster then glued bits of wood together some more. We left an hour early. I helped Nicole in the papermaking studio because she couldn't get the press open. Then drawing class was cancelled which I forgot about, so Lauren drove me home which was awesome! cause I needed to bring my big sketchpad home and my box.

Now I watch Whale Rider. I still love this film.

Oh and pardon me, but:
I got my period! YES!!!! WHOOT! WHOOT! WHOOT! It's about Fucken time! Three months! That weird doctor person worked! Energy flows and all that! WHOO HOO!

And now for something completely different.
Sport.

It's like God is humming in your ear. [25 Jan 2007|10:19pm]

Made more paper in Papermaking. Used rice straw pulp this time.

Printmaking was fun. I made a master drawing but before I could trace it onto mylar the paint pens ran out, so Marguerite and I went to Merion Art and bought 6 bold, 6 fine and 6 extra fine paint pens for the class and charged it to the school account. So I traced over the mylar when we got back. My drawing is of four telephone poles in varying distances with a road leading back and it's all on some big fluffy clouds that are violet, blue and white. Or they will be these colors when I seperate them. Cool beans. So now I am going to dig through my room looking for things to trace.

I got to hang out with Jim yesterday. He picked me up in Wayne and then we listened to music at his house for awhile. Fun stuff.

What's great about Jim is that if I have a musical question I only have to make one phone call to him and I know the answer. Lots of brownie points for Jim since he solved the John Cale and Brian Eno debacle created by Michael. Huzzah.

It was mighty cold out waiting for the train today. I missed one train, of course, and therefore sat for 25 minutes reading with mittens on which makes it difficult to turn the pages.

It snowed. Squee.

I listened to "Here Come the Warm Jets" (the song, not the whole album) about 15 times today. It's so good. Jim was right.

Andrea: Let's have us some carpet ripping fun!

The cliffs of insanity!!! [23 Jan 2007|09:09pm]
So, next year:Ireland.
Senior year(or earlier if it can be managed): Portland, Oregon.

I want to go eat cupcakes and doughnuts in Portland. My mom wants to come along and visit her dad who lives in Oregon, but I don't really want to meet him. I have never met him from no fault of my own, from his entirely and I don't really mind. His choice. I just want cupcakes and doughnuts, man. I do want a traveling partner, but I don't really want it to be my mom. I went to England with her and I'd rather go with someone my own age. I don't know. This isn't any old decision. It takes careful consideration and in the end I may just go alone, which isn't a bad prospect.

In other news, I am working my way through a ridiculous assignment. I don't think my Visual Fundamentals teacher is capable. She's only taught for a year so far and that's all well and good, but she takes everything far too seriously for one so young. She looks like she is younger than me, which bothers me in some way. I have to hot glue bits of balsa wood together to make some weird ass sculpture. It's coming along alright, but honestly I can think of about 15 other things I'd rather be doing, which includes going to other classes.

Clothing Construction was informative. We learned how to read a pattern. So now I have to go buy a pattern, which is cool cause I have a 40% off coupon for JoAnn's. Awesome.

I have been working out consistently for about four or five days now and while the scale takes no notice I can feel a change in me belly! Maybe it's the muscle thing. Muscle weighing more than fat. I hope...

Finished reading High Fidelity today. Still a good book. Reading About a Boy now.

meh [21 Jan 2007|05:52pm]
I had to peddle roast beef at work today. Awkward at best. Steve took a picture of me holding the sign in front of the case of roast beef.

I have read 21 books. 10 of which are mangas.

I need to do some crocheting.

My hair sucks right now. It's in that inbetween impossible to make it look good stage.

I've been working out. No loss of weight yet. What the fuck?

I feel kind of shitty right now.

Michael [18 Jan 2007|08:39pm]
Michael is my drawing professor and my print professor. He is awesome. Went to college in the seventies and shows us art from then. Today he demonstrated a master drawing for a stencil. He asked what he should draw: this turned into a half an hour of us making him draw this: Jimmy running in the snow. sounds quaint, but no. Jimmy is a fat man wearing a tank top and a Speedo, a headband, sunglasses, a black seventies biker mustache, blond curly hair, man boobs(michael's words, not mine), a power plant is exploding in the background, while Jimmy runs in the snow amongst palm trees, while a plane flies overhead with a banner reading "Congrats Bob and Cheryl". Very nice.

I have to think of a master drawing for myself.

day two [17 Jan 2007|03:12pm]
I have 16 books completed. Working on "The Great Gatsby" and am enjoying it much more than I did in tenth grade in school. No surprises there.

Had my first day of Drawing 2 and visual Fundamentals 2. My Vis. Fund. professor looks younger than I am, which is sort of weird, and I hear she is strict. If my sources can be trusted then this is only her second semester teaching. A fresh grad school professor. She gave us our first assignment. Got out very early of course.

Drawing 2 was fine. Michael just explained how the class works. Kelly C, Lauren(from eastern),Sophie, Donna, Paulina and Sarah are in there too. Lauren said she'd give a ride to the train station, but drove me home since it's on her way home. Very nice since it was so cold out.

I think this semester should be interesting, challenging though.

My first clothing construction class yesterday evening. The prof. knows her stuff which is good. There are three sewing machines. Here is my professor's website:  www.cindyfriendman.com

I'm at school. Waiting for my next class at four pm. First days suck cause you get our early and have to wait for the next class to begin for hours. I think this will be a good term.

I saw a clip from the Golden Globes this morning in the news of Sacha Baron Cohen. He's not a bad looking guy, which feels like a very wrong statement. However, cause I am thorough I looked up pictures of him online and have decided that in the clip he looked hot, but on average he is simply handsome. Ahem.

Hung out with Mike, Kelly and Nicole. Talking to Andrea on the phone.

rant-o-rama! [14 Jan 2007|08:10pm]
[ mood | blank ]

You know what? I am ready for school. I am going to kick ass too. I insist. Also, I am one goodlooking motherfucker. I'm also wellrounded. Know why? Cause I can cook, bake, read, crochet, throw clay, draw, shop, sew, game, sing, I can curse like a sailor. I can make people feel better. I can make people feel like shit. I can get impossibly frustrated with myself and with the world, but I can also drag my ass out of that depression with one hand tied behind my back. I can run on three hours of sleep or thirteen. I have chased storms. I have been in love. I have completed 78 miles on my bike in one day. I have advised people. I have sold scarves. I have made loose leaf tea. I have sent cryptic notes. I can survive in a group and I can survive on my own.

Okay. That was my existential rant for the week. I was thinking about what the hell this one is going to do with herself for the rest of her life when she realized that I have time, I am talented and I really don't need to worry right now. Yes, I have problems, but I'll take them as they come.

And now for soemthing completely different!

I am going to make custard. From scratch. I got a tackle box for my art supplies, with a seperate little box for charcoal. I am working on book 15.

nothings happening [13 Jan 2007|07:35pm]
So I worked today and it was total Eagles-mania. We had 400, that's right 400 Eagles balloons. Most of them were taped together to make huge columns of Eagles madness but today I had to untape them and put strings on them. I did that for the first hour and the last hour of my shift. In between I was bagging. Pete(important guy) walked around for half an hour when I got there with a roll of Eagles stickers sticking them on all the employees. Then there was a girl selling pretzels for the boy scouts food drive and people were buying them for the game tonight. Then there were the damn balloons everywhere. People were buying tons of food because it is Saturday and because of the game. Then you had the pizza party in the break room because our store sold more pretzels in the past two months for the food drive than any other store. We had pizzas up there, a gross Splenda sweetened bottle of coke, and a half sheet cake from the bakery decorated with the Eagles logo and with green and black icing of course. Gah!!! MADNESS. Hopefully tomorrow will be less insane as my shift is half and hour shorter and an hour earlier: 8am-noon. Plus Austin will be there to laugh with and to talk to in passing, which is always fun.

If you're happy and you know it leave a comment! if you're happy and you know it leave a comment! If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it, if you're happy and you know it leave a comment!

fairness is a bottle away [11 Jan 2007|11:59am]
Another day ahead of my. for your information I woke up at ten AM today. HA.

Ever get the feeling that you are on the verge of something either really good or really bad? I have that feeling and it all hangs in the mailbox. *laughs at my purposeful vagueness*

I have read ten books. Forty more to go! I am a goddess!

I have a cat in the sun.

Wah! 9 out of 50! I'm a freakin' goddess!

Anyway, school next week. Starting tuesday and going until thursday, cause art education does not exist on fridays apparently. I need to get my box of supplies ready, I might in fact go to Kmart and get a tackle box(fishing) and organize that way cause the big pencil box I have now causes all of my things to be covered in charcoal. Evil evil charcoal. So that will be today's goal. Well, one of them.

I am going to bake "Nun's puffs". No shit that is what they are called in my cookbook. I will post pictures of the book and the food later.

My mom is renting "Night of the Living Dead" and "Land of the Dead" for the twins and I. From TLA cause Blockbuster is a HOLE IN THE WALL! I hate blockbuster! They have Dawn and Day of the dead but not Night and Land. Night is the first one and is a classic, and Land is the newest! GAHCK!!!

Twins will be home in roughly an hour and 15 minutes. Or not. They might have Anime or Radio club today. Who knows? I sure as hell don't. Weasley is curled up on the floor in the sun against the entertainment thingy again as is required of him every afternoon.
